Well I suicided @ Fun server to try a few things.
I started with a pikeman army and in a few hours I made it to Lt. In the grey ranks I dismissed a soldier as soon as he was injured and replaced it with a new one. I promoted my soldiers every chance I got. Th only bad thing about this is that my apprentices easily pick up injuries.
Currently I have 39 pikemen going from veteran to apprentice. I'm guessing getting to the green ranks with this tactic in 2 days is possible.
Next time I'm going for a all musketeer or footman army ...

footman would be interesing to try, but musketeer in my exp is only good as a second account. they battle fine but they get very little experience compared to other units becaues they do a decent amount of damage in the artilary round that isn't worth as exp. this makes it great as a cheat account because you cna do huge ammounts of fights and ever 2 fights a referal account wins gives your main account 1exp

I suicided again when I was almost a major (need 100 more exp) and this in 4 training runs... that's about 750 exp in one run.

Footman all the way.......to hell I tried footman army one age back and lvling was nuts but didnt have the chance for pvp, though i admit that 100 soldiers are nice... But i still strongly advise dont make all footman army, you are warned

Cause that will be next :-)

I'm only testing strategies and like you said footmen suck, even for lvl'ing up. Did anyone ever try an all elephant army? Cause that will be next :-) Elephants were THE army to have in the starting ages. Decent levellers and when you rebuild at the right time you can have a lot of those thickheaded bastards. They were good in pvp and too good in training. So Vincent downrated them and since then they are rarely picked cause of their wage So feel free to try, i'm interested to know how they've developed ;D

Maybe someone with a Duke account should try this ... Currently I have an all Ninja Warrior army with 1 drummer and it also works great, not as good as pikemen but still good

i'm injoying my howitzer/halb army tho i think i designed it to level a little to quickly so my acuracy isn;t as high as it need to be for dealing death in pvp
next age i think i'm go'n to go with a cannon/jag or cannon/calverist army, to get a greater number of units and a more similar HP

I have a gardes army atm.. can't tell you what it does in pvp since i'm only training them now. With my method, training sucks, but i'm used to that lol
On the other server i have a gren army, and it works like a charm.. both in training and pvp, with an accuracy of 90% gnagna

i have a horse archer army which works wonders in both training and pvp, i could get to maj general in a training run from lt colonel, but it would have taken 4 hours to do so because of the 1-4xp per click i get And in borders it is possible to get 1k xp runs. just have to get to good terrain, force heal a litte and tada, u just got a 1k xp run. Next age im going for a fodder army, any suggestions what units should i mass? In fun my cavalrist army suks lol

My grens get over 1k XP each training run, as long as the terrain is a possitive one. No force healing or what ever lol
