I figured the place this was originally posted wasn't going to get looked at much, so here it is:
When you have to go through life feeling like a d**n prisoner and feeling like an outcast no matter what you say or do, you begin to understand. When it seems everyone hates you, you realize you only can trust yourself. You are your only friend. Leaders turn on their followers. Leadership fails. New problems arise. Old issues are made anew. It can do terrible things to a person. Break them. What kind of life is that? Is this really what the world is like? Just as long as you are happy the world can continue on. But if someone needs something of you, the world comes to a crashing halt. Step on as many people as you can on your way to the top. And it's this place. It takes your humanity. Takes away your soul. Twists your body and mind. Changes you entirly. You forget things. Things like love and compassion. And things like hate flow like water. After a while you go numb. You try to remember what life was like back at home. But it's hard. You call yourfamily but as you talk you realize just how much you changed. You can hear the change in their voices. The doubt. They don't like to talk anymore. They don't want to hearwhat is really happening. They want to think everything is fine. You know they won't look at you the samewhen you get back home. You know this is not the place for you. And ever home seems wrong. You've lost your place. You write a letter and things get worse. You wait for a reply. Days pass with no word. That letter would change how you feel. Every day you hope you'll get something. Maybe you'll get a letter from the woman you love. Or some other person you are close to. You want to be home. Somewhere that you decide what happens. You don't have to dress like everyone else. Or have the same haircut. You decide how things go. Here you do as your told or else. Fear drives you in this dark place. The desire to be somewhere you are accepted keeps you going. But in the end you are here, not where you want to be. People try to screw with you. And if they see it's getting to you they'll keep it up. And the hate is rekindled. Just when you think you might have been wrong and you let your guard down you are reminded you are still your only friend. At night it feels cold. But the longer you stay the colder it gets. You can feel it in the air. You don't feel right. The same hard bunk every night. You think you'll be fine while you sleep, but no. That's when they mess with you most. The teenagers act more mature than the others at times. But other timesthey show just how much they need to grow up. You feel so trapped. Can't breathe it sems at times. It's hot and humid, but you feel cold. Like a knife in the ribs. But more like aknife in the back. What kind of people are they to take over the country? Is this really what we were meant for?I guess so. Welcome to Fort Benning, Georgia.
