We had some interesting people in FTU (Fitness Training Unit) at Fort Benning. We had a guy called Country who was the contriban king. If you wanted dip, music, phone time (on cell phones), almost anything you wanted you talked to Country. There was a guy we called Doc Love... big guy.
Basically, someone stole Doc's can of wintergreen Skoal and he was all pissed about it. It was like 11:00 at night and Doc's yelling about his can being gone. He was threatening to go to the Drill Sergeants about it and get everyone an article 15 (loss of pay, possible loss in rank, and possible extra duty). Country already had 6 article 15s. One more and he was going to jail for 9 years. I woke up to all the comotion with Doc and quickly found out what happened. There was a guy named Bowen who dipped as well, and had a little bit of wintergreen left in his can. Bowen tried to give Doc the can so Doc wouldn't get us all busted for everything we had. Doc refused to take the can from Bowen. I decided to tell Bowen to give me his can and I'd tell Doc I found the can. It worked. Doc was pissed that there was only enough in the can for one dip, but he fell for the ploy. After things started to relax, Doc and Country are at each other's throats about what had just happened. Country wanted to fight Doc because Doc nearly got him his 9 years in jail. And Doc wanted to fight because Country was a battle buddy for someone who got Doc busted before I got there. I stepped in the middle since I was on good terms with both of them and finally got them to go to bed. Best of all? Most of the people in the bay knew what I did and they threated my like sh*t afterwords.
